MAISON et OBJET SEPTEMBER 2015

So we have just returned from an amazing but exhausting 4 days in Paris. My iPhone says that we have walked 45,000 steps or 33km which shows how large the Maison et Objet show is. But what better way to get to see pretty much every homeware designer in the world and see what trends are emerging for the future. Also, it's in Paris which is always a good thing.

We discovered a fantastic new hotel (www.hotelbachaumont.com) in the 2nd arrondissement which is an area we didn't really know as we usually stay in St Germain. The area is on the up due to Les Halles being completely re-developed and is very un-touristy. Maison et Objet chose our Hotel to host their press party which shows we must have got it right.

The streets around the hotel are full of restaurants, cafes, flower and fruit shops, butchers and a really good fishmongers and is very authentically Parisian.

We also went to take a look at the Merci concept store in Le Marais which donates all of its profits to charity and believes in a slower way of life and always has interesting furniture, gadgets, jewellery and fashion.

and finally on to the show..........

The trends are wood, marble, wire, glass, antlers, raffia, pastels, brights, linen, cashmere, sheepskin, leather, natural fibres, copper, greige - in fact pretty much everything you can think of, though the overriding feeling is still natural muted colours with the emphasis on softness, comfort and warmth but with bright fabrics to give it a lift. We have found some great new products and we will show them to you in the next blog....

and a bit of neon and fluoro colour to brighten a grey day back in London.....
