I have just been fortunate enough to have spent the last 48 hours at
Barnsley House in the beautiful Cotswolds. It's not the first time I've visited
as this is my bolthole - somewhere I can recharge my batteries, even though
it is only an hour and a half from home.
I go to meet up with friends and indulge in the spa treatments. They use the
same wonderful products from Aromatherapy Associates which we sell in our
shop- what a great excuse to road test them.
On arrival we are greeted as "house" guests, the staff could not be nicer and
you are made to feel so welcome.
The house in itself creates its own magic. Detail in the interiors is perfect, both
stylish and very comfortable. The gardens are famous as the house was originally
owned by the renowned garden designer, Rosemary Verey.
After lunch in the Potager, I booked myself in for the "holistic time out" which
consisted of one long indulgent massage. My lovely therapist Rebecca administered
the most uplifting Aromatherapy Associates oil - Renewing Rose Massage and Body
oil, a potent mix of rose, neroli, geranium and evening primrose to soothe and calm.
After a tranquil night's sleep and further grooming treatments in the spa, it was
almost impossible to leave. Unfortunately work beckoned but I returned home
refreshed and ready for anything.
Truly, Barnsley is a gem - it would be selfish to keep it to myself......
